Our High Falls Film Festival

Sheila and I have several annual traditions, and one of them is the High Falls Film Festival, right here in Rochester. We may have overbooked ourselves this year, but here's our schedule of what we plan to see:

Wednesday: Son of Rambow, Then She Found Me
Thursday: Sita Sings the Blues, The Last Mistress
Friday: Phoebe in Wonderland
Saturday: Blind Mountain, Diminished Capacity, Secrecy, Fermat's Room, Young People Fucking
Sunday: Mister Foe

Best laid plans

One of my favorite labels is Paper Bag out of Toronto, and as I've mentioned in the past, I go to the labels I like, not just let any old ones send me stuff for the show. That said, I have been expecting stuff from them, and I KNOW they sent it, but the Canadian Postal Service just doesn't care to cooperate with me. This has happened to me with personal stuff sent to my friends in Acton, ON; it just doesn't get there, or packages they send me doesn't make it either. So if there happens to be any Canadian postal carriers reading this (odds: 1-1 million), what gives, folks!?

And then some links Paper Bag sent me, some worked and others didn't. It just seems to be fate, so hopefully my end-of-May TO trip will yield some better results. In the meantime, all new playlist for Monday:

I was waiting on some stuff to show up but alas, still seems to be in the black hole that is Canada Post. I love the country to the point of obsession, but sometimes their mail service drives me batty. But the Nick Cave is a fine surprise, and the Cons, well...

Tomorrow starts the Big Read at the Monroe County Library System, centered around censorship and also Ray Bradbury and his seminal Fahrenheit 451, certainly one of my all-time favorite authors and books. You can even stop in your local library and pick up a free copy; it's a great read and thought-provoking event, and you can check out more info right here.
